Code of Conduct

Regenerative Code of Conduct for the Coastal Uplands

To become a regenerative tourist we ask that you adopt the following code of practice for the duration of your visit. A regenerative tourist is one who does more than not leaving a trace, they actively try to give some little bit back to the areas they visit.

To be a regenerative tourist:

  1. Please be respectful of the places you visit and the people you meet.
  2. Where possible, stay, shop, and eat locally, and support local businesses.
  3. Immerse yourself in these vibrant communities. ‘Live Like a Local’, take part in local events and engage with the people you meet. For suggestions visit our ‘What’s On’ page.
  4. Participate in recording and monitoring wildlife and landscapes.
  5. Be responsible for your own safety:
    • Check the weather forecast;
    • Plan your journey and check for road closures;
    • Pack accordingly;
    • Be aware of ticks and other insects in these areas.
  6. Respect the environment, local community members, wildlife, and your fellow tourists.
  7. Follow the seven ‘Leave No Trace’ principles:
    • Plan Ahead and Prepare
    • Be Considerate of Others
    • Respect Farm Animals and Wildlife
    • Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
    • Leave What You Find
    • Dispose of Waste Properly
    • Minimise the Effects of Fire
  8.

  9. Follow the ‘Countryside Code of Conduct’:
    • Respect everyone
    • Protect the environment
    • Enjoy the outdoors
    • Follow advice and local signs
    • Do no harm
